With the rapid progress of the HLPP (Human Liver Proteome Project), a massive quantity of liver proteome expression profile data has been generated. To manage the valuable resource effectively and present it for researchers, a web-based database of liver proteome expression profile named dbLEP has been developed. Currently dbLEP holds two datasets of human fetal liver and HLPP French liver with approximately 17247 proteins and 36990 peptides. Other datasets, such as HLPP Chinese liver and subcellula, C57 mouse liver subcellula will be online soon. Both non-redundant proteins and all possible proteins are presented so that users could understand each dataset comprehensively. Besides the complete identification, dbLEP provides related information like mass spectrums for users to verify the confidence.

To manage the valuable resource effectively and present it for researchers with different interest to carry out analysis conveniently, a web-based database of liver proteome expression profile named dbLEP has been developed. The researchers especially interested in large scale proteome or specific protein function could get great benefit from it. Currently dbLEP holds two datasets of human fetal liver and HLPP French liver with approximately 17247 proteins and 36990 peptides. Some other datasets, such as HLPP Chinese liver and subcellula, C57 mouse liver subcellula will be online soon. Both non-redundant proteins and all possible proteins are presented so that users could understand each dataset comprehensively. Besides the complete identification, dbLEP provides related information like mass spectrums for users to verify the confidence. Plenty of protein annotation, such as description of function, family, GO classification etc. and lots of cross links to the other related databases, such as UniPort, Kegg and HPRD etc., are provided as well. Users could get information by browsing each dataset, searching interested proteins with specified accession number, protein name, subcellular localization, or searching in batch mode. Meanwhile, users are enabled to customize their own filter criteria based on unique peptide count, spectrum count etc., and then get the corresponding identification subset with specific confidence. Blast and FTP services are also available. dbLEP is accessible at http://lep.hupo.org.cn and http://dblep.hupo.org.cn.
