Reporting guidelines to increase the reproducibility and comparability of research on microplastics

The aim of these reporting guidelines is to inform the critical method components which should be reported to reproduce a study. These can be used to develop databases for studies, develop new methodologies that better control for these factors, and referenced when publishing to ensure that a study is reproducible. We have formatted the documentation into a summarized and detailed version. We expect that the detailed documentation will be especially useful for new microplastic practitioners who are just entering the field. As well, the summarized versions of the documentation will be useful for practitioners who know the field well. These are living documents hosted on Open Science Framework to allow for comments on the microplastic reporting guidelines. All reporting guideline documents are open access and hold a CC By 4.0 license.
