Cochrane Patient/Population/Problem Intervention Comparison Outcome Ontology

Other names: PICO

The PICO ontology provides a model for describing evidence in a consistent way focusing on complex populations, detailed interventions and their comparisons as well as the outcomes considered. The PICO ontology was originally designed to model the questions asked and answered in Cochrane's systematic reviews. The PICO model can be used to describe healthcare evidence as well as used in other evidence-based domains. It aims to provide a model for describing evidence in a consistent way.
